Here are some new visitors who came to my studio some time back and made it their home.....they gave birth to 4 baby squirrels and when these little ones grew old enough to get out of their natural dwelling they were like little brats having a blast all over the place....:)
So one day I had a field day with my camera trying to catch everything they did... posting some of the pictures here ....

One of the regulars is Pankaj uncle who is an artist himself but now is into advertising. He’s trained as a painter but he’s totally fascinated by clay. He paints, reads, writes, is a photographer, has keen interest in gardening and is an encyclopedia of music….all this after his full day’s work at office! I wonder how does one brain and 24 hrs hold in so much…. :) His consistancy at work inspires me to do more…our topics during the tea break range from politics, music, books to social issues…. And now the studio doesn’t feel complete when he is out of town and doesn’t come….

Last year I did a raku workshop with some interior design students ….. They did some fantastic work and all through we had a great time… here’s Megha, Nikita, Anusha and Jeenal.
Next was gattu himself….. worked on the wheel for some time and realized it wasn’t all that easy after all…..but he knew his way around and was keen so wanted to be around during the firings and all that…we had a lot of fun during the raku firing….. here are pictures of the last one in which I needed his help and he sure was huge help….!!!!!! :)

Hey Gattu you look like you'r instructing me in the first picture....;)..good going!!!!

Here are two more brats who came in the studio during their summer vacations just wanting to explore clay....on the first day they looked like two quite little angles who would sit and work quietly....well.....little angels they surely were but with an extremely naughty streak!!!! We had a blast in those ten days....here's Kusha and Purvi with their adorable laughter and leg pulling.....it certainly was very difficult for me to have the last word with them!!!

It all started with Aparna and Sandeep. They knew I enjoy teaching so one day they suddenly came up with this idea of sending Samanyu to the studio to work in clay not as a class or anything but just so he could get a feel of clay and play with it….. he was 4 and a half at that time and a sweetheart…….What I enjoyed most were his stories and logic behind his characters…

When I set up my studio I worked there all by myself….it was nice and peaceful. The studio was my haven, my space whether I worked there or wrote or read, it didn’t matter… that was my time with myself. Then one day chaula’s cousin Gattu (shashank) said why don’t you involve more people in the studio …..I remember telling him ‘no’ and that he wouldn’t understand, that I liked it quite and peaceful here. To which he insisted that it would be more fun and a livelier place to work in. I said ‘NO’.
Today he loves saying “LOOK I TOLD YOU!!!” and I can’t agree more… I didn’t do it consciously but it kind of happened with a flow of its own…since the last two years its been a pleasure to have different people of different age groups and temperaments to have come and worked here for short periods of time…some were known and some unknown. I still have my peace and space but there’s a different kind of energy and vibration in the atmosphere. A vibration that’s created when different personalities and temperaments meet and interact and share….somehow under this tin roof we all got connected to each other without disturbing our spaces.
Here is the photographic journey of the activities within the studio…. :)
